Position Summary
An exciting opportunity to join a fast growing AEC in Texas who are seeking a highly motivated Business Development Consultant to drive strategic growth, expand market presence, and strengthen client relationships across their engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, and environmental service lines.
The Business Development Consultant will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with developers, architects, municipalities, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, industrial clients, and other key stakeholders. This individual will serve as a trusted ambassador for the company, helping position the firm as a preferred partner for complex infrastructure, site development, facilities, and consulting projects.
The ideal candidate combines strong relationship-building skills with a deep understanding of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry and a proven track record of generating new revenue opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development

Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the company growth objectives.

Identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities across public and private sector markets.

Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective projects and clients.

Monitor market trends, economic developments, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities.

Support expansion into new geographic markets and service sectors.
Client Relationship Management

Establish and nurture long-term relationships with developers, architects, contractors, municipalities, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and corporate clients.

Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective clients during the business development process.

Conduct regular client visits and attend networking events, industry conferences, and association meetings.

Collaborate with project managers and technical leaders to strengthen existing client relationships and identify cross-selling opportunities.
Pursuit & Proposal Support

Partner with technical and marketing teams to develop winning pursuit strategies.

Assist in Go/No-Go decisions and opportunity qualification.

Contribute to proposal development, interview preparation, presentations, and client meetings.

Coordinate strategic pursuit activities for major projects and master service agreements.
Market Intelligence & Brand Development

Maintain awareness of upcoming projects, procurement opportunities, and industry developments.

Represent the company professionally within industry organizations and community events.

Promote the companies multidisciplinary capabilities and integrated service offerings.

Help elevate the firm’s visibility through thought leadership and strategic networking.
Internal Collaboration

Work closely with engineering, surveying, environmental, and landscape architecture teams to understand client needs and service capabilities.

Facilitate communication between prospective clients and technical staff.

Provide leadership with regular reporting on business development activities, pipeline status, and revenue forecasts.
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

3-5 years of business development, client relations, sales, or marketing experience within the A/E/C industry.

Demonstrated success generating new business opportunities and developing strategic client relationships.
-
Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
-
Ability to engage with executive-level decision-makers and public-sector stakeholders.

Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to travel throughout Texas and surrounding markets as needed.
Preferred
-
Existing network within Texas development, municipal, higher education, healthcare, industrial, or commercial markets.

Experience with engineering consulting, land development, infrastructure, or construction services.

Familiarity with public procurement processes and RFQ/RFP pursuits.

Membership in relevant industry organizations such as ULI, NAIOP, SAME, ACEC, ASCE, or local chambers of commerce.
