The Opportunity

James Gray Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering consultancy for a CAD Technician specialising in building structures.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated technician to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team working across a varied portfolio of structural projects within the residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use sectors.

Our client is open to considering both permanent and contract professionals and can offer flexibility for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings and structural detailing packages
  • Assist engineers with the preparation of technical drawings and design documentation
  • Develop structural layouts for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures
  • Coordinate drawings with architects, engineers, and external consultants
  • Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and project specifications
  • Amend and update drawings throughout project lifecycles
  • Support project delivery to agreed deadlines

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a CAD Technician within building structures
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit experience advantageous)
  • Good understanding of structural engineering drawings and detailing
  • Experience working on UK building projects
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider technical team
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or relevant technical qualification
  • Experience with BIM/Revit workflows
  • Consultancy experience preferred
