Civil Engineering Contractor – Rail & Infrastructure Projects | Central Belt, Scotland

Overview

A leading civil engineering contractor delivering rail and infrastructure projects across Scotland is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of key schemes across the Central Belt.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work, delivering technically complex projects within the rail and infrastructure sector.


Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the planning, execution, and delivery of projects from inception through to completion
  • Manage site teams, including Site Agents, Engineers, and subcontractors
  • Ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, budget, and specification
  • Oversee health and safety performance, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company procedures
  • Manage and implement quality assurance processes, including ITPs and project documentation
  • Monitor project progress and performance, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Lead client and stakeholder engagement, maintaining strong working relationships
  • Manage project resources, including labour, plant, and materials
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on programme, cost, and risk
  • Take ownership of commercial performance, including cost control, variations, and forecasting

Requirements

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in rail, infrastructure, or utilities projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver projects successfully
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, QA processes, and project controls
  • Experience with planning and programming (e.g. Primavera P6 or MS Project)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
