Senior Structural Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team based in Glasgow, supporting the delivery of major projects across London and the South East. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and delivery of high-profile high-rise residential and commercial developments, working alongside multidisciplinary teams on complex and technically challenging schemes.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, excellent client-facing skills, and a proven ability to lead projects from concept design through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design and delivery of high-rise residential and commercial projects.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards.
  • Develop innovative and efficient structural solutions using a range of materials including reinforced concrete, steel, and hybrid systems.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, developers, and other consultants throughout all project stages.
  • Undertake structural analysis, design calculations, and technical reviews.
  • Prepare and review reports, specifications, drawings, and construction information.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians within the team.
  • Attend client meetings, design workshops, and site visits as required.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation and maintaining client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and industry best practice.

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE or MICE) or nearing chartership.
  • Minimum 8–10 years' experience in structural engineering consultancy.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering high-rise residential developments.
  • Proven experience on commercial building projects, including multi-storey and mixed-use schemes.
  • Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and steel frame design.
  • Experience managing projects through all RIBA stages.
  • Proficiency in industry software such as ETABS, Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, or similar structural analysis packages.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering projects within the London market.
  • Knowledge of tall building design principles, progressive collapse requirements, and wind engineering considerations.
  • Experience working on schemes exceeding 20 storeys.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and collaborative digital delivery environments.
  • Previous experience leading project teams and managing client relationships.
