James Gray Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their senior leadership team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role on a major £70 million energy infrastructure project in Central Scotland. The project is scheduled to commence in January 2027 and will run for approximately three years, offering long-term project security and the chance to help deliver one of Scotland's most significant infrastructure developments.

The successful candidate will be brought into the business ahead of the project start, providing the opportunity to become familiar with the team, client, and project before construction begins.

The Role

Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a flagship civil engineering project from pre-construction through to completion. You will lead multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role would suit an experienced Senior Project Manager or an established Contract Manager looking to take ownership of a high-profile infrastructure project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a major civil engineering infrastructure project valued at approximately £70 million.
  • Manage project teams, Site Managers, Engineers, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to client expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
  • Manage project programmes, resources, and construction planning.
  • Oversee commercial performance alongside the commercial team.
  • Drive excellence in health & safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Mentor and develop members of the project delivery team.
  • Provide regular project reporting to senior management.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience delivering large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Project Manager or Contract Manager.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and programme management experience.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).

What's on Offer

  • £75,000 basic salary
  • Car Allowance
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Opportunity to lead a flagship infrastructure project from inception to completion
  • Long-term career progression with a respected civil engineering contractor
  • Early project involvement ahead of the January 2027 mobilisation

If you're an experienced Project Manager looking for the opportunity to lead a landmark infrastructure project, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
