You will work on a variety of projects across sectors including healthcare, commercial, residential, and education.

Your expertise will drive excellence in mechanical design engineering, ensuring adherence to UK standards and contributing to sustainable, cost-effective, and performance-driven MEP solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical services (HVAC, plumbing, and public health systems) for a variety of types of buildings.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical designs, calculations, and technical specifications in compliance with UK building regulations and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, including architects, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and contractors to ensure design integration and project success.
  • Conduct energy performance analysis and create designs that adhere to sustainability principles, addressing energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and environmental impact.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers, enabling their professional development and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring that designs reflect the needs and objectives of all stakeholders.
  • Perform quality assurance and peer reviews of designs, maintaining best practices and ensuring project deliverables meet high-quality standards.

  • Promote and uphold the company’s mission to embrace diversity and inclusion in every project and workplace endeavor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it with a recognized UK institution such as IMechE or CIBSE.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in MEP design with a strong focus on mechanical services for building applications.
  • Proven knowledge of UK building regulations, standards, and codes, including approvals processes.
  • Previous experience working with industry-standard design and simulation tools such as Hevacomp, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and IES/IESVE.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability practices, low-energy design, and renewable technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritizing deadlines and client deliverables while maintaining accuracy.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • A commitment to promoting an inclusive and equitable work environment that values diversity.
  • Experience mentoring early-career engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Day-to-Day

  • Collaborate with architects, consultants, and project managers to review and refine project briefs and objectives.
  • Perform calculations and simulations to design efficient, safe, and code-compliant mechanical systems for buildings.
  • Oversee and review design drafts prepared by junior engineers and CAD technicians before final submission.
  • Attend client and contractor meetings to review project progress, address queries, and confirm design requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative design solutions that consider cost, sustainability, and buildability.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor construction progress and resolve technical challenges as they arise.
  • Prepare regular project updates, reports, and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in internal initiatives to develop and improve engineering design templates, standards, and best practices.
  • Actively contribute to building an inclusive workplace by supporting diversity and promoting open communication among team members.

This is an incredible opportunity to grow your career in a supportive, inclusive environment while working on meaningful projects. If you bring a passion for mechanical engineering, MEP design, and sustainability, along with a desire to make a positive impact, we’d love to hear from you!
