Quantity Surveyor
Our established and well-respected client has a substantial presence in Central Scotland based on contracting and development in the construction of public works, shopping centres, offices, factories, warehouses and both local authority, registered social landlords and private housing.
Due to their ongoing success, they now have a fantastic opportunity for a talented individual to join their team.
Primary Function
To be responsible for the commercial and surveying responsibilities for residential developments, refurbishments and commercial projects. To deal with all aspects of pre and post contract surveying and cost management, including managing the client relationship and service delivery on a project basis.
Key Responsibilities include:
• The complete financial and contractual control of the projects assigned.
• Forecasting, monitoring and reporting accurately on every project.
• Advising and guiding on all contract and commercial issues.
• Maintaining high quality financial control systems.
• Monitoring all progress on site.
• Managing subcontractor accounts accurately and effectively.
• Be responsible for the compilation of all weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required.
• Be aware of new materials and methods of construction which the company may employ, as well as a sound knowledge of latest regulations, codes of practice and NHBC requirements.
• Be responsible for all cost control procedures, including managing and controlling the budget and valuations by always updating the estimated final costs, and having the ability to show absolute cost and value reconciliation.
• Be able to control all commercial tasks and responsibilities on site.
• Contribute to the conceptual designs/options to ensure the design is kept within the budgeted values.
• Analyse and report on costs and cash flow using the support systems available.
• Prepare tenders and procure sub-contractors, goods and materials
The Person
• Hold Degree (or equivalent) level in Quantity Surveying.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills combined with ability to deliver practical, effective and sustainable solutions in a continuously changing environment.
• Strong organisational skills, ability to develop and manage effective processes.
• Strong communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally.
• Able to work on own initiative, with the drive to take ownership of projects.
• Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail, able to gather, interpret and present data to facilitate preparation of budgets and subsequent valuations.
• Proven track record in similar role or at the level of Quantity Surveyor.
• Experience and strong knowledge of health and safety obligations, building legislation and NHBC standards.
• Experience in managing Clients, Sub-Contractors and Supply Chain.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
Salary c£60,000 + car allowance + benefits
