Senior Site Engineer – Faslane

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join a major marine infrastructure project at Faslane, Scotland.

This is a long-term opportunity with the project expected to run for approximately five years, offering excellent stability and the chance to play a key engineering role across a significant programme of marine and coastal works.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day engineering support and technical oversight across jetty upgrades and refurbishment, marine painting and abrasive blasting, protective coatings, coastal protection and associated civil engineering works.

The Role

As Senior Site Engineer, you will work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors and client representatives to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, to specification and in accordance with programme requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing senior engineering support and technical leadership on site.
• Overseeing marine painting, abrasive blasting and protective coating works.
• Providing engineering supervision for jetty upgrades, refurbishment and structural works.
• Supporting the delivery of coastal and waterfront protection works.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, RAMS, ITPs and construction documentation.
• Carrying out setting out, dimensional checks, surveys and as-built records.
• Monitoring works against design, specification, programme and quality requirements.
• Coordinating engineering activities with subcontractors and specialist marine contractors.
• Identifying technical issues and developing practical engineering solutions.
• Ensuring inspection and testing requirements are completed and documented.
• Maintaining accurate engineering and quality records.
• Supporting progress measurement and reporting.
• Liaising with the client, consultants, subcontractors and wider project team.
• Providing guidance and technical support to junior engineers.
• Ensuring all works comply with relevant health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior Site Engineer with a strong background in marine, coastal, civil engineering, heavy infrastructure or structural refurbishment.

You will ideally have experience working on projects involving one or more of the following:

• Marine infrastructure
• Jetty construction or refurbishment
• Coastal protection / sea defence
• Marine civil engineering
• Structural refurbishment and repair
• Steelwork refurbishment
• Abrasive blasting and protective coatings
• Corrosion protection
• Concrete repair
• Working within tidal or waterfront environments
• Construction in highly regulated environments

Qualifications & Certifications

Applicants should hold an HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, Marine Engineering or a related discipline.

Relevant site qualifications and certifications should include, where applicable:

• CSCS / appropriate engineering card
• SMSTS or equivalent
• First Aid
• IOSH or equivalent health & safety training
• Working at Height
• Confined Space
• Asbestos Awareness
• Manual Handling
• PASMA / IPAF where required
• CPCS / NPORS where relevant
• Relevant marine/waterfront safety training
• Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor training where applicable

AMPP/NACE, FROSIO or ICorr coatings inspection qualifications would be highly advantageous for candidates with a protective coatings and blasting background.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature and location of the project, security clearance will be required.

Candidates must be willing and eligible to undergo the appropriate security vetting process. The required level of clearance will be determined by the project and role requirements.
