Project Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering
Location: Perth, Scotland (Flexible Working Available)

Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career with a leading civil engineering contractor? James Gray currently working with a well-known, national civil engineering business that has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the UK. With a significant pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint a Project Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Perth. The Opportunity

You will play a key role in the commercial management of civil engineering projects, supporting delivery from pre-construction through to final account.

Projects typically include:

  • Infrastructure and groundworks
  • Roads and highways
  • Utilities and drainage
  • Large-scale civil engineering schemes

You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, and Senior Commercial staff to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the commercial management of projects from tender through to completion
  • Prepare cost forecasts, budgets, and reports
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and variations
  • Support the administration of contracts (NEC experience preferred)
  • Monitor project costs and identify risks and opportunities
  • Assist with valuations, change control, and final accounts
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and commercial best practice
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders

About You

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts is essential 
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise effectively
  • A proactive and team-oriented approach

Requirements

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in a similar role within civil engineering (2.5 years of experience minimum) 
  • Full UK driving licence
