Established Main Contractor – Private Sector Projects
The Role
A well-established main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its team in Aberdeen.
This role offers the opportunity to take a lead commercial position across a portfolio of private sector projects, including commercial developments, industrial and logistics schemes, refurbishments, and fit-out works.
Working within a busy and growing regional business, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality projects while maintaining strong commercial control from inception through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Administer and manage contracts under standard forms including NEC and JCT
- Take ownership of cost planning, procurement strategy, valuations, and variations
- Manage subcontractor packages end-to-end, including procurement, negotiation, and performance management
- Provide accurate financial reporting, cost control, and forecasting
- Work closely with operational teams to drive programme, quality, and commercial outcomes
- Support and mentor junior surveyors where required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
- Strong experience delivering private sector projects such as commercial, industrial, refurbishment, or fit-out schemes
- Solid understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
- Ability to commercially manage multiple projects or complex packages simultaneously
- Strong negotiation, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to operate independently
Location & Projects
- Based in Aberdeen
- Site-based role with travel across projects in the North of Scotland
- Focus on private sector developments
- Typical projects include commercial builds, industrial/logistics units, refurbishments, and fit-outs
