Graduate Structural Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Graduate Structural Engineer with around two years of industry experience to join our growing team in East Kilbride.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer seeking to further develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment, working on a diverse range of projects across residential, commercial, industrial and public sectors.

You will work closely with senior engineers and project teams, contributing to the delivery of innovative and practical structural engineering solutions from concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of structural elements in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
  • Prepare structural calculations, technical reports and design documentation.
  • Produce and review engineering drawings in collaboration with technicians and BIM teams.
  • Support project delivery from feasibility through to detailed design and construction stages.
  • Attend site visits, surveys and inspections as required.
  • Liaise with architects, contractors, clients and other design team members.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes and industry regulations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and technical standards.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng or MEng).
  • Approximately two years of post-graduate experience within a structural engineering consultancy.
  • Working knowledge of structural design principles and relevant codes of practice.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and design software.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.

Desirable

  • Progressing towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience using software such as Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, Robot, or similar packages.
  • Exposure to residential, commercial or industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of BIM and collaborative digital workflows.
