Our client is one of the UK's leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractors, delivering some of the country's most prestigious infrastructure projects across the marine, highways, energy, rail, water and heavy civil engineering sectors.
Due to the award of a flagship marine infrastructure project on Scotland's west coast, they are looking to recruit an ambitious Assistant Site Engineer to join their experienced project delivery team.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a graduate or early-career engineer to gain exposure to large-scale civil engineering works while receiving structured mentoring from experienced engineers and benefiting from excellent long-term career progression.
The Project
You will join the team delivering a major marine infrastructure redevelopment project, involving the construction of a new harbour facility and associated landside infrastructure.
The project includes:
- Marine and harbour construction
- New quay and pier structures
- Land reclamation and bulk earthworks
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Roads and external works
- Drainage and utility infrastructure
- Ferry terminal infrastructure
- Heavy civil engineering and marine works
This is a technically challenging, multi-disciplinary project that will provide exceptional experience across a wide range of civil engineering disciplines.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Site Engineer, you will support the engineering team with the day-to-day technical delivery of construction activities, ensuring works are completed safely, accurately and in accordance with project specifications.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll develop your technical skills while working alongside experienced Site Engineers, Senior Engineers and Site Managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with setting out using GPS and Total Station equipment.
- Supporting the delivery of marine and heavy civil engineering works.
- Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Producing as-built surveys and maintaining accurate engineering records.
- Carrying out quality inspections and ensuring works meet specification.
- Monitoring subcontractor activities and workmanship.
- Assisting with temporary works coordination.
- Maintaining quality assurance documentation and inspection records.
- Recording site progress and supporting daily reporting.
- Assisting with material reconciliations and engineering records.
- Promoting high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ).
- Participating in toolbox talks and site safety inspections.
- Working closely with the wider project team to ensure successful project delivery.
About You
We're looking for an enthusiastic engineer who is keen to build a long-term career with one of the UK's leading infrastructure contractors.
Essential
- Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering.
- Graduate, placement or Assistant Engineer experience within civil engineering or construction.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Flexibility to work away from home Monday to Friday.
Desirable
- Experience using Leica or Trimble GPS and Total Station equipment.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD.
- CSCS Card.
- Previous experience within heavy civils, marine, highways or infrastructure projects.
