James Gray Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a growing specialist contractor as they launch their brand-new Glasgow city centre office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to join a business during an exciting period of growth, while working on complex marine, civil engineering, and infrastructure projects across Scotland.
The company has an established reputation within the sector and delivers a diverse range of projects including harbour developments, jetty construction, coastal works, dredging support, and associated heavy civil engineering schemes.
This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the development of the Glasgow office, working closely with senior leadership while contributing to technically challenging and commercially significant projects.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
You will work closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors, and senior management to ensure projects are delivered successfully from both a commercial and contractual perspective.
Key Responsibilities

Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of marine and civil engineering projects from inception to completion

Preparing and submitting interim valuations, cost reports, and final accounts

Administering NEC and other standard forms of contract including variations, compensation events, claims, and change management

Monitoring project expenditure and preparing accurate cost forecasts

Supporting estimating and tendering activities including cost planning, subcontract procurement, and bid preparation

Liaising with project managers, site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication and reporting

Assessing and negotiating subcontractor payments and variations

Producing detailed commercial reports and ensuring compliance with internal governance procedures
Requirements
-
Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
-
Proven experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, marine, or heavy construction projects
-
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (JCT experience also beneficial)

Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills

Strong communication and negotiation ability

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a growing team

Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant commercial management software

Estimating experience would be advantageous
