Leading Engineering & Construction Specialist (Healthcare Projects)
The Role
A leading engineering and construction specialist is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of mechanical building services on a major healthcare development in the South East.
This is a unique opportunity to work on a high-profile hospital scheme delivering a state-of-the-art cancer care facility. The project will play a critical role in transforming patient care and clinical outcomes across the region.
The position offers the chance to work within a technically demanding, highly regulated environment, with strong long-term career prospects and exposure to complex healthcare engineering systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of mechanical building services packages through to completion
- Coordinate with design teams to manage technical queries, design development, and approvals
- Oversee subcontractors on site, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and programme requirements
- Attend coordination meetings and contribute to sequencing and problem-solving
- Assist with testing, commissioning, and handover processes
- Ensure all works comply with healthcare standards, HTMs, and relevant regulations
Requirements
- Background in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
- Experience delivering M&E packages on complex construction projects (healthcare experience advantageous)
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, pipework, etc.)
- Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders including design, commercial, and site teams
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
