Site Agent
(Civil Engineering – Water, Marine & Infrastructure)
Location
Based across Edinburgh and Livingston, with travel to project sites as required.
Purpose of the Role
To lead the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of civil engineering projects, ensuring works are completed to programme, budget, and quality standards while maintaining full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Site Management

Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of site operations

Plan, coordinate, and supervise labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors

Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, drawings, and specifications

Manage multiple work fronts across water, marine, or infrastructure schemes
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

Promote and enforce a strong health and safety culture on site
-
Ensure all activities comply with company procedures and statutory regulations

Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)

Carry out site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks
-
Ensure environmental controls and quality standards are maintained
Commercial & Cost Control

Monitor project costs and support budget management
-
Assist with valuations, variations, and financial reporting

Work closely with the commercial team to maximise project performance

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities
Planning & Programme Management

Develop, review, and update construction programmes
-
Track progress against key milestones and deadlines
-
Identify risks to delivery and implement mitigation measures
-
Ensure timely procurement and resource allocation
Leadership & Team Management

Lead, manage, and motivate site teams including engineers and supervisors

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff

Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance
-
Foster a collaborative and safety-first working environment
Stakeholder & Client Liaison

Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders on site

Attend and contribute to progress and coordination meetings
-
Maintain effective communication with designers, suppliers, and authorities
-
Build and maintain strong client relationships
Technical Oversight
-
Ensure accurate setting out and engineering control
-
Review drawings and specifications to ensure buildability
-
Resolve technical issues and provide practical solutions on site

Ensure works meet required engineering and quality standards
Requirements
Qualifications
-
HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
-
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
-
CSCS card (management level)
Experience
-
Proven experience in a Site Agent, Sub Agent, or Site Manager role
-
Strong background in civil engineering projects (water, marine, or infrastructure)
-
Experience managing self-delivery and subcontracted works
