Structural Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join our expanding Glasgow office. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic engineering team delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects including commercial, residential, industrial, education and public sector developments.
The successful candidate will contribute to projects from concept through to completion, working collaboratively with clients, architects and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake structural analysis and design for projects in steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
- Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions in line with project requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors and other design disciplines throughout project delivery.
- Assist with project management activities including programme monitoring and resource planning.
- Carry out site inspections, surveys and construction monitoring visits as required.
- Review drawings and technical information prepared by technicians and BIM teams.
- Ensure compliance with current British Standards, Eurocodes and industry regulations.
- Support the delivery of projects within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Contribute to technical excellence initiatives and continuous improvement within the team.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent).
- Typically 3–7 years' experience within a structural engineering consultancy environment.
- Experience in the design of building structures across a range of sectors.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, Robot Structural Analysis or similar.
- Strong understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and construction methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
Desirable
- Progressing towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status.
- Experience delivering projects within the Scottish market.
- Familiarity with BIM processes and collaborative digital delivery.
- Experience with refurbishment, conservation or assessment projects.
- Knowledge of sustainable and low-carbon design principles.

Salary Guide
£38,000 – £50,000 per annum, depending on experience, qualifications and sector background.
