Planner / Programmer – Civil Engineering
Location: Glasgow/ West Scotland
Type: Permanent - or temp to perm hire
Overview
James Gray Recruitment is exclusively partnered with a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering a long-term programme of works within the onshore wind sector in the South West of Scotland.
This is a permanent opportunity for a Planner / Programmer to join a growing team, supporting the commercial function across a secured pipeline of work expected to run for up to 4 years. The role offers excellent exposure, autonomy, and the opportunity to play a key part in delivering major infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain project programmes across multiple civil engineering schemes
- Work closely with the commercial team to support project delivery and performance
- Produce and update programmes using ASTA (preferred) or Primavera P6
- Identify programme risks, delays, and changes, providing clear analysis and mitigation strategies
- Assess the impact of variations and delays on project timelines
- Collate, analyse, and integrate project data into master programmes
- Support tender and bid submissions where required
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Bid Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and Project Managers
Requirements
- Previous experience in a planning/programming role within civil engineering or infrastructure
- Proficiency in ASTA Powerproject (preferred) or Primavera P6
- Strong understanding of programme management, sequencing, and critical path analysis
- Ability to interpret changes in programme and assess impact on delivery
- Strong data handling and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
