The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a major onshore wind farm infrastructure project in South Ayrshire.

Available on either a permanent or contract basis, this role offers the opportunity to work on a significant renewable energy development, supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure from the early phases of construction through to project completion.

Working alongside the Site Agent and Project Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with programme requirements on a technically challenging civil engineering project.

The Role

Reporting to the Site Agent, you will provide engineering support across all phases of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to specification.

Typical works include:

  • Wind turbine foundations
  • Crane hardstands
  • Site access roads
  • Earthworks and bulk excavation
  • Drainage infrastructure
  • Reinforced concrete works
  • Utility installations
  • Temporary works
  • Environmental and restoration works

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out works using GPS and robotic total stations.
  • Carrying out surveys and maintaining accurate site control.
  • Producing and maintaining QA documentation and as-built records.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Supporting site management with daily planning and coordination.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and quality standards.
  • Ensuring works are completed in accordance with design specifications.
  • Identifying and resolving engineering and technical issues.
  • Assisting with progress reporting and programme updates.
  • Promoting Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards across the project.
  • Liaising with designers, clients and the wider project team.

About You

We're looking for a motivated Site Engineer with experience delivering civil engineering or infrastructure projects who is keen to work within the growing renewable energy sector.

Previous renewable energy experience is advantageous but not essential. Candidates with strong backgrounds in roads, earthworks, infrastructure, utilities or heavy civils will also be considered.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering.
  • Experience in setting out using Leica, Trimble or similar survey equipment.
  • Strong understanding of QA procedures and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • CSCS Card.

Desirable

  • Experience on renewable energy, infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects.
  • Earthworks and reinforced concrete experience.
  • AutoCAD knowledge.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • Temporary Works knowledge.
  • Drone survey or GPS machine control experience.
  • Valid First Aid qualification.
