A well-established and highly regarded civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team. With a strong focus on renewable energy, highways, and marine works, this organisation offers the opportunity to work on large-scale and technically challenging projects across varied locations.

Central Belt, Edinburgh & Fife (multi-site role)

The Role

As Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of civil engineering projects from initial enquiry through to completion. Projects will primarily be within the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors, including wind farms, substations, access roads, and associated works.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing projects from pre-construction through to final handover
  • Overseeing design coordination, planning, procurement, and site delivery
  • Leading site teams, including Site Managers and Supervisors, ensuring all personnel are competent and compliant
  • Producing and managing project documentation and HSQE plans (CPP, QMP, EMP, WPP, programmes)
  • Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Developing and implementing safe systems of work, including site inspections and audits
  • Preparing and issuing site safety documentation (inductions, briefings, risk assessments, COSHH)
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and supporting incident investigations where required
  • Managing the tender process, including handover and risk reviews with internal teams
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners
  • Overseeing budgets, cost control, and commercial performance of projects
  • Demonstrating strong NEC contract knowledge and commercial awareness, including management of compensation events, early warnings, and change control
  • Working closely with commercial teams to ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual and financial objectives
  • Supporting and mentoring site teams to drive performance and development
  • Liaising with statutory bodies and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Monitoring workforce productivity and resource allocation
  • Contributing to management reviews, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong NEC contract knowledge and commercial awareness (essential)
  • Experience working on renewable energy projects (e.g. wind farms) or large-scale infrastructure is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage project budgets and commercial performance effectively
  • Experience in a collaborative project environment
  • SMSTS certification (essential)
  • CSCS card (essential)
  • PTS (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • A proactive and safety-first approach to project delivery
