Overview

We are seeking a proactive, innovative, and skilled Electrical Engineer with expertise in UK Engineering Design (MEP) and Electrical Design to join our diverse and inclusive team. You will play a critical role in driving state-of-the-art engineering solutions while ensuring sustainable and energy-efficient design practices. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for a wide variety of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects, ensuring compliance with UK standards and regulations.
  • Prepare detailed documentation, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other building services.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site surveys, and risk assessments to deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions.
  • Support energy-efficient and sustainable system designs to meet environmental standards and project-specific needs.
  • Liaise directly with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Utilize industry-standard tools and software for electrical design and modeling, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to bring innovative ideas to each project.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in electrical design, preferably within the MEP sector adhering to UK Standards.
  • Proficiency in using engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and BS 7671 (IEE Wiring Regulations) compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Experience working within diverse teams and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., IEng, CEng or working towards chartered status) is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and sustainability frameworks is a plus.

Day-to-Day

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to design and review electrical systems.
  • Conduct calculations and simulations to ensure system efficiency, performance, and compliance.
  • Create technical drawings and reports that detail project specifications and designs.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and client presentations.
  • Visit project sites to perform inspections, evaluations, and troubleshooting of issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Engage in regular communication with clients and stakeholders to provide status updates, address queries, and incorporate feedback.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices to enhance project outcomes.
