Overview

We are seeking a confident and skilled Senior/Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team specializing in UK Engineering Design - MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Systems). This role offers a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise in mechanical design, contribute meaningfully to impactful projects, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. We aim to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace that values innovation, growth, and a commitment to sustainable engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

As a Senior/Associate Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing mechanical design projects with a focus on MEP systems, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Actively collaborating with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to design and develop efficient and sustainable mechanical solutions.
  • Conducting detailed mechanical calculations, analyses, and reports to meet regulatory codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Providing technical mentorship and guidance to less experienced engineers and team members.
  • Developing, reviewing, and delivering design documents such as schematics, layouts, and specifications using relevant tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders to present ideas, recommendations, and project updates.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, sustainability standards, and new technologies to provide innovative solutions.
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations, policies, and best practices in UK engineering design processes.

Qualifications

We invite individuals of all backgrounds to bring their skills and perspectives to this role. While experience and qualifications are essential, we prioritize inclusion and professional growth for everyone. The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (relevant professional qualifications or certifications highly advantageous).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in mechanical design engineering, specifically within the UK MEP sector.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software tools like AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Hevacomp, or IES.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK building regulations, sustainability practices, and mechanical engineering codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently while working in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Membership or working toward membership with a recognized professional institution (e.g., IMechE, CIBSE).
  • A commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion and equity in the workplace and within project delivery.

Day-to-day

  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders in project planning sessions, from conceptual design to final delivery phases.
  • Develop and refine detailed mechanical system designs, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Inspect and assess mechanical systems on-site as required to verify compliance and identify potential improvements.
  • Provide support to junior engineers by offering feedback, best practices, and training opportunities.
  • Attend project meetings with internal teams, clients, and contractors to align goals and expectations.
  • Review and analyze the energy performance of new and existing systems, ensuring high efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
  • Build positive working relationships across multidisciplinary teams that reflect a commitment to inclusivity and collaboration.
  • Actively contribute to the company’s ongoing mission to lead innovation in sustainable and high-performing building designs.

By joining our team, you will contribute to an ambitious and supportive environment that actively champions diversity, equity, and inclusion. If you are a results-driven individual passionate about mechanical design, MEP systems, and sustainable engineering practices, we encourage you to apply.
