Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

The Role
- Managing the commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and BMS systems across various environments.
- Overseeing project planning and execution, ensuring all specifications are met in a multidisciplinary engineering commissioning role for large-scale facilities.
- Reviewing design criteria, specifications, drawings, and equipment submittals relevant to the commissioning process.
- Implementing and adhering to a comprehensive quality management process to validate and document client systems.
- Collecting and organizing necessary documentation, drawings, and data from clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Developing site-specific commissioning plans and reviewing factory witness test procedures for major equipment.
- Scheduling and leading commissioning meetings while ensuring proper documentation.
- Designing and administering functional tests for various mechanical systems.
- Maintaining commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and project tracking tools while compiling comprehensive final reports.
- Coordinating external resources, attending construction and coordination meetings as required, and providing progress updates to project and facility managers.
The Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent military/industrial training with 3+ years of experience in mechanical/controls engineering, energy services, plant operations, or construction management.
- Previous experience in data center or mission-critical environments.
- Hands-on experience in commissioning or maintaining electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong ability to collaborate with general contractors and effectively communicate expectations.
- Knowledge of major regulations, industry codes, and construction standards.
