Overview

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Associate Mechanical Engineer with expertise in UK Engineering Design - MEP and Mechanical Design to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects that shape our built environment while striving for innovation, sustainability, and excellence. In this role, you will work with a talented and inclusive team, leveraging your technical and design skills to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the mechanical design process across various multidisciplinary projects, ensuring compliance with UK building regulations, standards, and codes.
  • Design and innovate mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and other building services, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure the seamless integration of mechanical designs.
  • Produce detailed technical designs, specifications, reports, and calculations for both new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Oversee project progress from concept through completion, providing technical expertise and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Coordinate and manage client relationships, effectively communicating project objectives, progress, and deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews, site visits, and inspections, ensuring high-quality execution that adheres to client requirements and health & safety standards.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements to adopt the latest practices and technologies in mechanical engineering.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and across projects by fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Strong expertise in UK Engineering Design - MEP and Mechanical Design principles and practices.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and simulation software.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK building codes, regulations, and standards, particularly related to mechanical design.
  • Professional accreditation (or working towards) such as CEng, IMechE, or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a systematic and analytical approach to challenges.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, sustainable design, and innovation.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary project environment with diverse stakeholders.

Day-to-Day

  • Develop and refine engineering models, plans, and drawings using cutting-edge design tools and software.
  • Meet with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to discuss project requirements and progress.
  • Research and integrate sustainable solutions into mechanical systems design.
  • Solve design challenges and conduct risk assessments to ensure project success.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced engineers and technicians.
  • Support the preparation of tender documents, schedules, and specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections, ensuring effective project implementation and quality assurance.
  • Contribute to internal workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and training programs to foster team development.
  • Actively participate in fostering an inclusive workplace culture where all team members feel valued and empowered.
