Responsibilities
- Lead and assist in the design, analysis, and implementation of comprehensive mechanical systems within MEP projects.
- Ensure mechanical designs align with UK building regulations, standards, and sustainable practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver high-quality designs.
- Develop design documentation including engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications for MEP systems.
- Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections, ensuring solutions adhere to technical and performance standards.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges promptly while maintaining a strong focus on quality and innovation.
- Support in preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals.
- Mentor junior engineers and share expertise to promote knowledge-sharing and professional growth.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in mechanical engineering and sustainable design technologies to bring innovative ideas to projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, particularly within the MEP field, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and energy-efficient design principles.
- Proficiency in industry-relevant design software/tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
- Strong understanding of UK building codes, regulations, and sustainable engineering standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex technical challenges.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Professional accreditation or working towards chartered status with an organization such as CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent is a plus.

Day-to-day
- Design and detail mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, and related MEP components) using advanced design tools.
- Conduct calculations, analyses, and simulations to ensure systems meet project requirements and efficiency goals.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and external stakeholders to refine solutions and address project needs.
- Take part in client meetings and provide technical expertise to address project challenges and updates.
- Assist in the coordination of project timelines, budgets, and deliverables with the project management team.
- Perform site inspections, troubleshoot issues, and provide key recommendations to optimize system performance.
- Organize and attend internal team meetings to ensure alignment on project goals and deadlines.
- Continuously develop professional skills and contribute positively to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all team members.
