Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will take a leadership position in mechanical engineering, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of high-quality MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects. Working collaboratively across teams, you will utilize your expertise to drive innovation and excellence. Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical engineering design process across large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Oversee the development of detailed designs, calculations, and specifications for MEP systems that ensure energy efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems into cohesive designs.
  • Manage resources, budgets, and timelines for assigned projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within scope.
  • Leverage Revit MEP and other design tools to create 3D models and conduct system simulations.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders to understand project objectives and deliver exceptional outcomes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advance the adoption of innovative engineering practices and technologies to maximize project efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with UK building codes, standards, as well as health and safety regulations.
  • Promote sustainable design principles and energy-efficient solutions in all projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly desirable.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in MEP design, with a focus on mechanical design and building services engineering in the UK.
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and other engineering software tools.
  • Strong understanding of UK engineering design standards, building regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems design and integration.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop diverse teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of engaging with clients and stakeholders effectively.
  • Commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion in engineering practices and team dynamics.
  • Passion for sustainability and energy efficiency in engineering design practice.

Day-to-Day

  • Lead project meetings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Review and approve detailed engineering drawings, reports, and calculations for MEP systems.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot challenges during project development and implementation.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and professional development within the team.
  • Ensure all designs and processes align with legal, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, addressing issues proactively to keep projects on track.
  • Initiate and contribute to the adoption of sustainable and innovative practices within the organization.
