Senior Mechanical Engineer (MEP Design)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and innovative **Senior Mechanical Engineer** with expertise in **UK Engineering Design - MEP** and **Mechanical Design** to join our diverse and forward-thinking team. You will play a key role in shaping sustainable and cutting-edge engineering solutions for a range of exciting projects in both private and public sectors, from concept to completion. Responsibilities

- Lead the mechanical design process for MEP projects, ensuring compliance with UK standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers, to deliver seamless, integrated designs.
- Produce detailed mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and building services systems, using industry-standard tools and software.
- Solve complex engineering challenges by developing innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient solutions.
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and reviewing their work to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Engage actively with clients and stakeholders, delivering technical presentations and documentation that meet project needs.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring all deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, innovative technologies, and regulatory changes to enhance project outcomes.
- Champion diversity, inclusion, and eco-conscious engineering practices across all aspects of your work.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Professional accreditation such as CEng or equivalent with membership of a recognized institution (e.g. IMechE, CIBSE).
- Proven experience in **UK Engineering Design** with a focus on **MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing)** systems.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software, such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD, IES, Hevacomp, and other mechanical design tools.
- Excellent knowledge of UK Building Regulations, British Standards, and CIBSE Guidelines.
- Strong technical and problem-solving capabilities with a passion for delivering forward-thinking solutions.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with experience managing teams and fostering an inclusive workplace.
- Commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency in designs, including renewable energy developments and low-carbon solutions.

Day-to-Day

- Collaborate with team members to generate innovative solutions for mechanical engineering challenges across a variety of sectors.
- Develop and refine technical designs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
- Attend project meetings with clients and stakeholders, providing expert advice and gathering requirements.
- Participate in design workshops, ensuring the best practices in engineering are applied to projects.
- Monitor and review the work of junior engineers, offering constructive feedback and promoting their professional growth.
- Conduct site visits to assess project progress, address any challenges, and implement solutions effectively.
- Review and keep appropriate documentation, calculations, and reports that align with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
