Senior Civil Engineer Infrastructure
About the Company
Our client is a respected engineering consultancy delivering high-quality structural and civil engineering solutions across Scotland and the UK. With a diverse portfolio covering commercial, residential, industrial, education, and public-sector developments, they are expanding their Glasgow office and seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to support both structural and infrastructure projects.
Role Overview
The Civil Engineer will work as part of a multidisciplinary design team, contributing to the design and delivery of building structures, site development infrastructure, and associated civil works. You will be involved in projects from concept to completion, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities

Design civil engineering elements such as site grading, drainage, roads, and utilities for building and development projects.

Support the design and analysis of building structures in collaboration with structural engineers.

Produce detailed drawings, models, and specifications using software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and/or MicroDrainage.

Prepare calculations, feasibility studies, and technical reports.

Develop infrastructure layouts including access roads, hardstanding, car parks, SUDS, and external works.

Liaise with architects, structural engineers, planners, and contractors to coordinate design information.

Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and standards (Building Regulations, Sewers for Adoption, SUDS, local authority guidelines).

Assist in preparing tender documentation, drainage strategies, and construction details.

Attend client and design team meetings as required (in person or remote).

Support junior team members with guidance and technical oversight.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

Experience in civil engineering design for buildings and/or land development projects.

Working knowledge of drainage design, SUDS, earthworks, and general infrastructure layout.

Competency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage (or similar design tools).

Understanding of structural engineering principles and the ability to support structural design tasks.

Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to collaborate within a hybrid working environment.
Desirable Skills
-
Progress toward IEng/CEng with the ICE or IStructE.

Experience with reinforced concrete and steel detailing.

Familiarity with BIM processes and digital design workflows.

Knowledge of Scottish Water, local authority, and SEPA approval processes.
