Senior/Associate Engineer - UK Engineering Design (MEP, Electrical, Mechanical)

Overview

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior/Associate Engineer specializing in UK Engineering Design to join our forward-thinking team. This role is pivotal in delivering innovative and sustainable Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design solutions, with a particular focus on Mechanical Design.

Responsibilities

As a Senior/Associate Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Design Leadership: Leading the design and development of MEP systems, ensuring innovative, sustainable, and practical solutions that comply with UK regulations and standards.
  • Project Management: Managing projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Producing detailed designs, schematics, and specifications for electrical and mechanical systems, focusing on energy efficiency, durability, and functionality.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and cohesive project outcomes.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all designs adhere to UK building regulations, British Standards, and internal quality protocols.
  • Mentorship: Providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
  • Client Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, representing the company’s technical expertise and values.
  • Innovation and Sustainability: Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainability practices to enhance design processes.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience in UK-based MEP engineering design, with a focus on Mechanical and/or Electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and engineering calculation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of UK design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Chartered status or actively working towards chartership (e.g., CEng with IMechE, IET, CIBSE, or equivalent).
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and client expectations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in sustainable design practices, renewable energy systems, or green building certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED).
  • A track record of delivering projects across sectors such as commercial, industrial, retail, or residential.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring teams and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Day-to-Day

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with clients to understand project requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Developing and optimizing detailed designs, plans, and specifications for MEP systems using advanced software tools.
  • Conducting design reviews and technical calculations to ensure quality, practicality, and compliance.
  • Participating in coordination meetings, site visits, and design workshops with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Overseeing project delivery at all stages, from feasibility studies to construction and commissioning.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering team development.
  • Staying informed about technological advancements, industry regulations, and sustainability strategies to enhance project outcomes.
  • Contributing to a supportive and inclusive workplace culture that values diverse perspectives.
