Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

Location: North Lanarkshire
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Car Allowance
Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date:  March 2026


The Opportunity

James Gray Recruitment is working with a well-established civil engineering contractor specialising in roads, infrastructure and groundworks projects across Scotland to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for their growing commercial team in North Lanarkshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable contractor delivering a variety of infrastructure works, offering strong long-term career prospects and exposure to full project lifecycle commercial management within a supportive team environment.


The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for supporting and managing the commercial aspects of multiple civil engineering projects, ensuring cost control, contractual compliance and financial performance are maintained throughout delivery.

You will work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors, playing a key role in protecting project margin and ensuring accurate reporting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts
  • Subcontractor procurement, negotiation and management
  • Cost forecasting and cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Change management and administration of variations
  • Measurement and valuation of works on site
  • Reviewing and managing subcontractor applications and payments
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting
  • Supporting project teams with contractual and commercial matters
  • Liaising with clients and consultants regarding commercial issues

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts (preferred) or similar forms of contract
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence
