Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Agent to act as the Responsible Person on site, managing all aspects of project delivery. The role involves overseeing safe, high-quality construction in accordance with contracts, drawings, specifications, and programme requirements, while ensuring commercial performance and compliance with legislation and employer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Act as Principal Contractor, managing all aspects of health, safety, and welfare on site under CDM regulations.

  • Produce and maintain Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, inductions, daily task briefings, toolbox talks, and safety audits.

  • Ensure subcontractors adhere to safe working practices and company standards.

Programme & Quality Management

  • Produce and monitor construction programmes using Powerproject, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.

  • Ensure works are carried out to the required specifications and standards, including ITPS and industry regulations.

  • Develop and manage Quality Management Plans, site inspections, and approval processes.

Commercial & Procurement

  • Produce monthly cost and revenue forecasts, monitor budgets, and ensure works are delivered on time.

  • Procure and manage subcontractors, materials, plant, labour, and freelance staff effectively.

  • Negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

Environmental Management

  • Manage environmental requirements, including approvals, permits, CAR licenses, and pollution prevention plans.

  • Liaise with environmental regulators and ensure site compliance with all environmental obligations.

Stakeholder Management

  • Represent the company as the primary point of contact on site.

  • Attend pre-start, weekly, and monthly progress meetings with clients, regulators, and statutory authorities.

  • Produce 2–4 week lookahead programmes and monthly progress reports.

  • Coordinate with statutory undertakers, local authorities, and other stakeholders.

Design & Technical Management

  • Manage design development and coordination, ensuring compliance with Employer Requirements.

  • Work with subcontract designers to ensure designs are value-engineered and compliant.

  • Identify technical or physical problems and develop solutions to control costs and programme impact.

Team Leadership

  • Manage site-based technical and commercial staff, delegating tasks to support project delivery.

  • On larger projects, coordinate multiple sub-agents responsible for specific work packages or site areas.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Civil Engineering is preferred; HND in Civil Engineering may be acceptable.

  • Strong experience managing civil engineering, infrastructure, or energy construction projects.

  • Proven track record of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

  • Experience in programme management, cost control, procurement, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
