## Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for building infrastructure, aligned with UK Engineering Design standards and MEP frameworks.
- Create innovative solutions for energy-efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective electrical designs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, structural, and architectural engineers, ensuring seamless integration of electrical systems within broader MEP designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site surveys, and design assessments to determine project requirements and constraints.
- Prepare technical drawings, layouts, calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software and tools.
- Ensure compliance with UK building regulations, safety standards, and best practices for electrical engineering.
- Participate in project reviews, troubleshooting, and providing expert solutions to technical challenges during construction.
- Engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to communicate project details clearly and effectively.
- Stay up to date with advancements in electrical engineering technologies, trends, and processes to ensure the team utilizes industry-leading practices.
## Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; a Master’s degree or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in electrical design, specifically within MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects, with knowledge of UK Engineering Design codes and standards.
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and relevant electrical engineering software.
- Understanding of low-voltage, distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and energy management systems.
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices, renewable energy systems, and smart building technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities to innovate and optimize systems.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is considered an advantage.
## Day-to-day
- Develop and refine electrical system designs, ensuring alignment with overall project goals and client requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage project workflows and resolve technical challenges efficiently.
- Review technical documentation and ensure compliance with applicable legal, safety, and engineering standards.
- Conduct site visits, perform inspections, and provide ongoing support throughout construction.
- Attend team meetings, engaging in brainstorming sessions to drive continuous improvement in processes and designs.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.
