We’re Hiring – Estimator

Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary engineering contractor specialising in structural refurbishment, civil engineering, industrial services, and infrastructure maintenance, is looking to add an experienced Estimator to their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established organisation involved in major UK infrastructure projects across rail, highways, energy, utilities, heritage, and defence.


The Role

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of projects, including structural refurbishment, civil engineering works, and industrial maintenance. This role is key in supporting tender submissions, ensuring commercial viability, and contributing to successful project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documents
• Preparing detailed cost estimates (materials, labour, plant and subcontractors)
• Sourcing and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Completing quantity take-offs and compiling full tender submissions
• Identifying risks and value-engineering opportunities
• Working closely with project, commercial, and procurement teams
• Managing estimate databases and maintaining historical cost information


What We’re Looking For

• Experience as an Estimator within construction, civil engineering, structural refurbishment or infrastructure maintenance
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Ability to read technical drawings and contract documents
• Excellent communication and commercial awareness
• Proficiency in Excel and estimating or take-off software
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines

Desirable:
• HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related field
• Experience in sectors such as rail infrastructure, bridge refurbishment, steelwork or industrial services
