Job Title: Structural Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and assess structural systems in civil and structural engineering projects, including bridges and building structures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers, to meet project requirements and deadlines.
• Contribute to the design of new structures and the strengthening or repair of existing ones, ensuring durability, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
• Develop detailed technical reports, proposals, and calculations to communicate engineering concepts effectively to diverse stakeholders.
• Stay updated on relevant civil and structural engineering standards, regulations, and emerging trends in the UK market.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and support junior team members in their professional development.
• Provide input during the planning, conceptual development, and constructability phases of assigned projects.
• Champion safety, diversity, and environmental sustainability efforts within engineering projects and company culture.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven expertise in UK engineering design codes and standards specific to civil/structural engineering, including bridges and building structures.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla, STAAD Pro, or similar).
• Excellent understanding of structural materials, including concrete, steel, and timber.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer registration (e.g., CEng or working towards it).
• Experience with sustainable and low-carbon design methods appreciated but not essential.
• Practical project experience in a client-focused environment.

Day-to-Day

• Conduct site inspections, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and documentation for a variety of structural projects across the UK.
• Work with internal and external teams to troubleshoot design challenges and optimize project outcomes.
• Attend design team meetings and client presentations to provide technical input and solutions that align with project goals.
• Train and mentor junior team members to encourage growth and professional development.
• Actively support the creation of an inclusive and equitable workplace environment.
