Job Description: Structural Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the design of civil and structural engineering projects, focusing on both concept and detailed design.
• Design and analyze bridge structures, ensuring compliance with UK-specific standards and regulations.
• Provide expertise in geotechnical engineering design and collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines.
• Perform structural assessments, calculations, and simulations to evaluate performance and safety.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports using advanced engineering software.
• Support project delivery from initiation to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Conduct site visits and collaborate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
• Stay up-to-date with relevant codes, standards, and emerging industry technologies.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative project environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional accreditation (CEng or working towards chartership) with institutions such as ICE or IStructE is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in UK-based civil/structural engineering design, bridge design, and geotechnical design.
• Strong knowledge of UK building codes, Eurocodes, and relevant design standards (e.g., DMRB and CDM).
• Proficiency in relevant design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, PLAXIS 2D/3D).
• Solid problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Day-to-Day

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable and innovative engineering solutions.
• Conduct rigorous analysis and design, ensuring compliance with technical standards.

• Contribute to technical reviews and provide input to enhance workflows and processes.
• Manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while staying aligned with project goals.
• Participate in team brainstorming sessions to encourage idea-sharing and innovation.
