Design Engineer – Structural

James Gray Recruitment is working with a leading civil and structural engineering consultancy who are looking to add a Design Engineer to their Glasgow office.

The Role

As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the structural design and analysis of a variety of building and civil engineering projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will be responsible for producing high-quality design work, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to construction.

About You

• Honours degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a design office environment.

• Ambitious, career-focused and committed to achieving chartership status with ICE or IStructE.

• Ability to apply engineering principles & codes of practice to solve technical problems using a variety of structural materials including concrete, steel, masonry and timber.

• Strong IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.

• Proven ability to effectively use structural design software such as CADS, Tekla, SCIA, STRAP, TEDDS, Fastrack, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.

• Good working knowledge of UK design codes and standards.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Appreciation of the full project delivery process including NEC Contracts.

• Commitment to CPD and competence.

• Proactive and adaptable approach to changing scenarios.
