Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading contractor specialising in building and civil engineering projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-value commercial, infrastructure, and civil engineering projects, supporting the delivery of projects from inception through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to client expectations.

  • Prepare and submit interim valuations, cost reports, and final accounts.

  • Administer standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT, or equivalent), including managing variations, claims, and change orders.

  • Monitor project expenditure, cost forecasting, and financial performance.

  • Support tendering and estimating teams with cost planning, subcontractor procurement, and bid submissions.

  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, and clients to provide clear financial reporting and advice.

  • Review and assess subcontractor payments, variations, and claims.

  • Mentor and guide junior QS staff, promoting best practice and commercial excellence.

Requirements:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.

  • Proven experience in building, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects, ideally across commercial or public sector schemes.

  • Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.

  • Demonstrable experience in project cost management, commercial reporting, and contract administration.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to lead a team, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant QS software.

  • Estimating experience is highly desirable.
