James Gray Recruitment are working with a leading engineering consultancy to recruit a Senior / Principal Structural Engineer for their Edinburgh office. This is an exciting opportunity for a Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE) with 2–3 years’ post-Chartership experience to step into a key role, delivering high-profile projects while mentoring junior engineers.

The Role

As Senior / Principal Structural Engineer, you will:

• Take ownership of design and delivery across a diverse project portfolio.

• Manage client relationships and liaise with design teams and contractors.

• Mentor and support junior engineers, encouraging professional development.

• Prepare calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.

• Contribute to business growth within the Edinburgh office.

About You

• Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE), ideally 2–3 years post-Chartership.

• Strong technical expertise in structural design (steel, concrete, timber, masonry).

• Proven experience delivering projects independently and within a team.

• Strong communication and client-facing skills.

• Experience mentoring or supervising junior engineers.
