Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum
Benefits: Company car
Hours: 41.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Office-based, Central Scotland (no hybrid working)
The Opportunity
A well-established specialist contractor operating within the piling, foundations and ground improvement sector is seeking an experienced Senior Design Estimator to join its team in Central Scotland. This is a technically diverse role combining design, estimating and technical sales responsibilities, supporting both pre-construction and operational delivery stages.
The Role
Reporting to the Design / Estimating Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe, cost-effective and commercially robust engineering solutions aligned with business objectives and company management systems.
Key responsibilities include:

Design and estimation of piling and foundation solutions, including bearing piles, tension piles, laterally loaded piles and embedded retaining walls.

Experience across driven piles, cast in-situ piles, mini/restricted access piles and ground improvement techniques is highly desirable.

Development of technical and commercial proposals from initial enquiry through to project award.

Assessment and prioritisation of incoming enquiries and formulation of bid / win strategies.

Liaison with clients, consultants and approving authorities.

Provision of technical support on complex schemes at both pre-construction and delivery stages.

Contribution to business development activities including technical sales, pricing strategy, market intelligence and R&D input.

Mentoring and supporting less experienced team members.
About You

Demonstrable experience in design and estimating within piling, foundations, geotechnical engineering, or wider civil engineering projects.

Ideally a background in civil engineering with strong technical understanding of ground engineering and foundation design methodologies.

Commercially aware with experience managing estimates, risk, and client negotiations.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Relevant engineering degree (civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or geology preferred).

Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status desirable.
