Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering and surfacing contractor. This is an exciting opportunity to work across highways, groundworks, road and footway construction, resurfacing, and traffic management projects, helping deliver high-quality works across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage commercial and contractual performance of projects from inception to final account.

  • Prepare and submit interim valuations, cost reports, and final accounts.

  • Administer NEC and other standard contracts, including variations, claims, and change management.

  • Monitor project expenditure and produce accurate cost forecasts.

  • Support tendering and estimating teams with cost planning, subcontractor procurement, and bid submissions.

  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure clear financial reporting.

  • Assess and negotiate subcontractor payments and variations.

  • Produce detailed commercial reports and ensure compliance with governance standards.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in commercial processes and support business growth.

Requirements:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

  • Proven experience in civil engineering, highways, surfacing, or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.

  • Excellent commercial awareness, analytical and reporting skills.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, able to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant QS software.

  • Estimating experience would be beneficial.
