Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems for buildings in compliance with UK standards.
- Develop detailed designs and technical specifications for MEP systems, ensuring quality, accuracy, and sustainability.
- Perform engineering analysis, including load calculations, energy modeling, and system simulations.
- Validate designs through technical reviews and implement changes as required to meet client and regulatory standards.
- Create and update relevant technical documentation, including reports, drawings, and schematics.
- Support project delivery by coordinating with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, health & safety codes, and environmental policies.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and interns.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in mechanical engineering and sustainable design.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in UK Engineering Design - MEP and mechanical systems design.
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, codes, and industry standards specific to the UK.
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with energy modeling and simulation tools (e.g., IES, DesignBuilder).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
- A commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and energy efficiency in mechanical designs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership) with a recognized professional body such as IMechE or CIBSE.
- Experience working on diverse and inclusive teams.
- Demonstrated knowledge of innovative MEP solutions, including renewable energy systems and high-efficiency HVAC systems.
- Experience with BIM workflows and integrated building design processes.
Day-to-day
- Begin the day by reviewing project updates and revising MEP designs based on new client requirements or site observations.
- Participate in team meetings to coordinate cross-disciplinary engineering designs and resolve technical challenges.
- Conduct energy and load calculations to verify the performance of mechanical systems for different building projects.
- Draft, review, and quality-check mechanical design drawings and documentation for submission or client presentations.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to the approved mechanical designs.
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems into broader project goals.
- Provide updates to internal and external stakeholders about the status and progress of assigned projects.
- Research emerging technologies, tools, and regulations that can elevate design efficiency and innovation.
