A growing independent Fire Engineering consultancy is looking to expand its Glasgow team as it continues to grow. The business provides strategic fire engineering advice across new and existing buildings, combining fire strategy development, regulatory design review, performance-based solutions and advanced fire and smoke analysis. Opportunities are available across different levels depending on experience, with strong demand for experienced Fire Engineers who want to develop alongside a growing consultancy.

The Role

Develop clear and pragmatic fire strategies for new and existing buildings, including strategies prepared for building warrant purposes and retrospective strategies where required.

Review designs against relevant building regulations, standards and fire safety guidance, identifying potential compliance issues at an early stage.

Provide strategic fire engineering advice to clients, architects and wider design teams from concept through to project completion.

Develop performance-based fire engineering solutions where projects move beyond prescriptive guidance.

Contribute to fire and smoke modelling where appropriate, using engineering analysis to support alternative design approaches.

Attend client and design-team meetings and communicate fire safety requirements clearly and practically.

Work across a varied portfolio of projects and building types throughout Scotland and the wider UK.

Take increasing responsibility for project delivery, technical quality and client relationships in line with experience and seniority.

Opportunities Across Different Levels

Fire Engineer – support and deliver fire strategy work, design reviews, technical reporting and project coordination while continuing to develop technically.

Senior Fire Engineer – independently manage projects, lead client communication, produce and review fire strategies and support the development of less experienced engineers.

Principal / Associate Fire Engineer – provide senior technical leadership, manage key client relationships, mentor the team and contribute to the continued growth and development of the consultancy.

What We're Looking For

Experience in Fire Engineering / Fire Safety Engineering within the built environment.

A relevant Fire Engineering, engineering or related technical qualification, or equivalent industry experience.

Knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, Building Regulations and relevant standards/guidance; knowledge of Scottish building standards is particularly useful.

Experience with fire strategies, code compliance reviews, design-team coordination or performance-based fire engineering appropriate to your level.

Clear technical report writing and confident communication with clients and project teams.

A practical, solutions-focused approach to fire engineering and an interest in producing advice that works with the wider building design.

Enthusiasm for developing technically, taking on greater responsibility and contributing to a collaborative team.

Professional membership and/or progress toward Incorporated or Chartered status is beneficial but will depend on career level.
