Are you an experienced Estimator with a background in civil engineering, ready for your next challenge? We’re currently recruiting for a talented Estimator or Senior Estimator to join a fast-paced and expanding infrastructure business based in Scotland. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across both rail and general civils sectors.

About the Role

You’ll be part of a dynamic commercial team involved in a wide range of infrastructure schemes—from civil asset maintenance and improvement frameworks to major capital works. Projects span bridges, tunnels, embankments, flood defences, and station upgrades across both rail and non-rail sectors.

This position involves a mix of first-principles estimating, collaborative bid strategy development, and hands-on engagement with project teams and supply chain partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed quantity take-offs from technical drawings and specifications

  • Issue enquiries and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers

  • Prepare cost estimates using first principles and historical benchmarks

  • Work closely with bid teams including planners, engineers, and managers to develop accurate submissions

  • Support bid meetings and contribute to pricing strategy and risk analysis

  • Prepare detailed and compliant tender submissions

  • Assist with post-tender negotiations and handovers to delivery teams

  • Participate in post-submission reviews to enhance future estimating accuracy

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within civil engineering

  • Experience in rail infrastructure is advantageous, but not essential

  • Skilled in first-principles estimating and cost analysis

  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel & Word)

  • Strong understanding of construction techniques and project delivery methodologies

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills

  • Background in site operations or delivery is desirable

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience)

  • Company car or car allowance

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (with service-based increases)

  • Up to 3 paid volunteer days per year

  • Contributory pension scheme

  • Life assurance cover

  • Health cash plan and lifestyle rewards

  • Opportunities for continuous professional development and career progression

  • Supportive, safety-first work culture
