Associate Fire Engineer

An established, highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Associate Fire Engineer to strengthen its Manchester team. This is a senior role within a well-established Fire Engineering function, offering exposure to complex, high-profile projects while combining technical delivery, client management and team development.

The Role

Lead and deliver fire safety design across a varied portfolio of UK building projects, with occasional international exposure.

Develop practical and compliant fire engineering solutions using detailed knowledge of UK fire regulations and design guidance.

Produce and oversee fire strategies and provide senior technical fire safety advice throughout the project lifecycle.

Work closely with architects, structural engineers, building services teams and other construction professionals to integrate fire engineering requirements into coordinated designs.

Represent the fire team at design workshops, client meetings and site visits.

Manage and develop long-term client relationships and provide clear technical advice to project stakeholders.

Use and review fire modelling and analysis covering areas such as evacuation, smoke and fire behaviour, heat radiation and structural fire.

Support and mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued technical development of the wider team.

Take ownership of project delivery, deadlines, quality and client service.

What We're Looking For

Strong experience within a Fire Engineering consultancy or closely related fire safety role.

Relevant degree or equivalent technical qualification in Fire Engineering, Engineering, Building Services, Architecture, Physics, Mathematics or a similar discipline.

Strong technical knowledge of fire safety design and UK regulatory requirements.

Practical experience with fire modelling and analysis software.

Experience leading projects and dealing directly with clients and multidisciplinary design teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organisation, planning and ability to deliver against demanding project timescales.

A collaborative approach and willingness to support the development of junior team members.

Professional accreditation or progress toward Chartered status would be advantageous.
