THE BEST THINGS TO DO IN GLASGOW THIS CHRISTMAS

THE BEST THINGS TO DO IN GLASGOW THIS CHRISTMAS

Posted 04/12/2018 by Emma Blair

It’s the start of December, meaning the Christmas decorations are up, festive cheer is among us and copious amounts of Baileys are being consumed!

At James Gray we absolutely love Christmas, so what better way to celebrate than to share some of the best things to do in Glasgow at Christmas time…

Go for a shopping trip on Glasgow’s style mile

Stock up on all your Christmas shopping in one of the best shopping districts in the UK. From designer to high street, Buchanan St offers a wide variety of shops to choose from. Not to mention extended festive opening hours, solving all your gift dilemmas.

Take a trip back in time

OK, not literally, but if you head over to Glasgow's East End you'll be able to experience one of Scotland’s oldest and most famous markets – The Barras. Since the 1920’s it has provided locals with street markets, indoor markets, street cafe's and pubs. New additions like the BAad (Barras Art and Design) Centre hold events most weekends and have an award-winning seafood restaurant - Al Challtainn for all your cravings. You can’t go wrong!

George Square & The Christmas Markets

Every year at the heart of the city centre the annual Christmas lights turn on, and so does Glasgow’s Christmas! Go along every day from the 25th of November to the 31st December to enjoy the dazzling Christmas lights, rides and ice rink. After you're done, take a 5-minute walk to the Christmas markets at St Enoch’s square (We highly recommend the Gyros for a snack – you won’t regret it!)

Festive afternoon tea @ the Blythswood Hotel

For something a little more luxurious, treat your loved ones to afternoon tea at the Blythswood Square Hotel. From a selection of delicious sandwiches to Christmas themed cakes, you’ll love this extra special treat. (You can add bubbly too!).

The Panto!

Is it really Christmas if you don’t go to a pantomime? This is the perfect family get-together where you can go and just have fun. There are loads to choose from across various venues including; Aladdin, Cinderella and the Bodyguard…

Finish the day with a Christmas movie at the GFT

Settle down to watch your favourite Christmas movie with a hot chocolate in one of Glasgow’s oldest cinemas. There are several films on every year making sure there’s something for everyone (Elf is obviously our choice). View their listings here…
