80 new build flats in Renfrewshire

Renfrewshire Council are inviting tenders for the construction of 80 residential flats at Dargavel Village in Bishopton.
The 18 month project is worth £9.85m and starts July this year.
A total of £53.9m will go into creating new-build homes, regeneration and maintaining existing council properties as part of Renfrewshire’s Housing Capital Investment Plan 2018/19 to 2020/21.
There is also provision for new-build investment in affordable social housing in Johnstone Castle.

Edinburgh £7.8m flats: Contractor appointment imminent

The main contractor will be appointed this month for the construction of 104 flats at Granton Harbour in Edinburgh.
The £7.8m project starts in August and will last for two years working for clients KLM Partnership and Port of Leith Housing Association.
The scheme comprises the construction of 104 flats and maisonettes in a 4/6 storey block. Works include 63 parking spaces, access, enabling, infrastructure, sewer system and landscaping.
Key consultants include The Keenan Consultancy (mechanical and electrical) and Scott Bennett Associates (structural).

Glasgow £40m city centre office

The construction of a new £40m office on Bath Street in Glasgow will begin in June this year.
McLaughlin and Harvey is the preferred contractor chosen by client Client Coleby Investments.
The 22 month scheme comprises erection of a mixed use development comprising an office (Class 4), retail (Class 1) with various commercial uses including Class 2, Class 3, Class 11 and Sui Generis (Public House and Hot Food Takeaway) and associated works.
Key consultants include Woolgar Hunter Engineers (structural) and KJ Tait (mechanical and electrical).

£12m sports centre at university

The University of Stirling are preparing for the construction of their Gannochy Sports Centre in December.
The University are in the process of establishing if the tenders have been returned.
The 19 months scheme comprises partial demolition of sports facility and construction of a new 3 storey building providing a new main entrance, fitness suite and studios, cafe and changing rooms. 3 court sports hall and performance hall with support accommodation, new landscaped public realm, bus/drop off lay-by and parking area.
Key consultants include Harley Haddow & Partners (mechanical and electrical), Brownriggs (quantity surveyor), and Woolgar Hunter Ltd (structural)

£10m school on the way

The main contractor due to be appointed for a new £10m school.
East Renfrewshire Council hope to start the construction of Maidenhill Primary School and Nursery next month.
The 12 month scheme comprises construction of non-denominational primary school with nursery provision together with associated playgrounds, sports pitch with floodlighting, parking, pedestrian and vehicular accesses (major).
Blyth & Blyth Associates (structural), Gardiner & Theobald (quantity surveyor) and TUV SUD Ltd (mechanical and electrical).
